Los Azulejos Talavera Añejo is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila aged in oak and presented in a hand-painted ceramic decanter in the Talavera tradition of Puebla. This Bottle #1 is painted in classic cobalt blue on white, with a bird among swirling flowers and leaves. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

Talavera is a centuries-old style of hand-painted earthenware from the Puebla region of Mexico, recognised for its bold designs on a white glaze. Los Azulejos, whose name means the tiles, takes that craft as its signature: each decanter is painted by Mexican artisans, so no two are exactly alike.

The tequila opens yeasty and briny, then turns to pepper and pineapple, with a mid-palate of chocolate, orange and sugar-cookie sweetness and a sweet, long finish.

The decanter is as much a piece of Mexican folk art as a bottle of tequila, a striking addition to a bar and a gift that will be displayed long after the last pour.

Sip it neat from a snifter.

Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.

Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
