Louis Latour Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru Les Chaillots 2020 is a red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir from the Les Chaillots premier cru, at the foot of the hill of Corton, bottled at 13.5% ABV.
It has a deep ruby colour with aromas of cherry, licorice and walnut.
The mouthfeel is very delicate and fresh, and the finish is rather long and well balanced.
Critics describe bright red fruit, wild strawberry, raspberry and floral perfume, with medium to full body and powdery tannins.
The 2020 earned 94 points from James Suckling and 92 from Wine Spectator. Les Chaillots is a Latour family holding in Aloxe-Corton, home of the house's historic Château Corton Grancey, and it offers a delicious taste of Corton's style at premier cru level.
Good wine rewards a little care in serving. Whites and rosés show best chilled to around 45 to 50°F, while reds are at their most expressive slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65°F. Opening the bottle and letting it breathe for a few minutes, or pouring it into a decanter, helps the aromas open up.
