Louis Latour Meursault-Blagny Premier Cru Château de Blagny 2020 is a white Burgundy made from Chardonnay grown in the hamlet of Blagny, above Meursault, bottled at 13.5% ABV.
It was fermented traditionally in oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation, then aged 8 to 10 months in oak, 35% of it new.
The wine is pale yellow, with acacia flower and brioche on the nose and grilled almond on the palate.
It has nice tension and a lot of freshness, with pear, white flowers and green apple, and a round, rich, textural palate from this higher-altitude site.
The 2020 earned 93 points from Wine Enthusiast and James Suckling. Louis Latour suggests serving it at 12 to 14°C, and it will develop for six to eight years.
Good wine rewards a little care in serving. Whites and rosés show best chilled to around 45 to 50°F, while reds are at their most expressive slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65°F. Opening the bottle and letting it breathe for a few minutes, or pouring it into a decanter, helps the aromas open up.
