Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé 2013 is the rosé edition of the house's prestige cuvée Cristal, a vintage Champagne blended from 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay.
The Pinot Noir comes from Aÿ and the Chardonnay from Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, grand cru villages at the heart of the Champagne region.
Around 20% of the wines were vinified in oak and the wine did not go through malolactic fermentation, keeping its freshness and tension. It was finished with a dosage of 7 g/L.
In the glass it shows a pale, delicate pink colour and fine, persistent bubbles, with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and flowers.
Cristal was first created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia, and it remains one of the most celebrated prestige cuvées in Champagne. The rosé is made only in exceptional years and in far smaller quantities than Cristal Brut, which makes each vintage a collector's bottle. The 2013 growing season was late and cool, and it produced a pure, precise rosé built for long ageing as well as for celebration today.

How to Enjoy It
Serve Cristal Rosé well chilled, around 8 to 10°C, in a white-wine glass or a tulip flute that lets the aromas open. It is superb on its own as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with sashimi, langoustines, lobster, salmon, roast duck breast and red-berry desserts. Open it to mark a proposal, an anniversary or a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Store the bottle on its side in a cool, dark place away from vibration, and chill it for a few hours before opening. A bottle of this standing makes a memorable gift for a milestone birthday, an anniversary, a wedding or a promotion.
