Lucid Absinthe Supérieure is a classic French absinthe, bottled at 62% ABV (124 proof) in a 375ml bottle. It is made at the 180-year-old Combier Distillery in Saumur, in France's Loire Valley.
Lucid is credited with being the first genuine absinthe, made with real grande wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), to be legally available in the United States in over 95 years.
Its recipe was developed by distiller T.A. 'Ted' Breaux, a New Orleans native considered one of the very best absinthe distillers in the world, also known for his Jade absinthes.
It is crafted from grande wormwood, green anise and sweet fennel, with its green colour derived directly from the botanicals. It shows anise and fennel with peppery herbal notes, and it louches beautifully into a pale, milky green when water is added.
It is a beautiful bottle for the classic absinthe ritual and for cocktails such as the Sazerac.

How to Enjoy It
For the classic absinthe ritual, pour about an ounce into a glass, rest a slotted spoon with a sugar cube on top, and slowly drip three to five parts ice-cold water over the sugar until the absinthe louches into a milky pale green. Stir and sip slowly. It is essential for rinsing the glass of a Sazerac, and a few drops add depth to a Corpse Reviver No. 2. Try it in a Death in the Afternoon with Champagne, or in an absinthe frappé with mint and crushed ice. Because of its high strength, always dilute before drinking. Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool place.
