Lunazul Extra Aged Añejo is made from 100% blue Weber agave and aged for 46 months in Elijah Craig bourbon barrels, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Lunazul is a hand-harvested, estate-bottled tequila made at the Tierra de Agaves distillery in Jalisco. Inspired by more than 250 years of family tradition, the brand was founded in 2002 by Francisco Beckmann, who set out to create the world's finest 100% agave tequila. Every Lunazul expression is hand-crafted and hand-labelled.
Lunazul's small-batch process keeps only the heart of the distillation, producing a clean, agave-forward base that takes well to extended bourbon-barrel maturation. The result is deep amber in colour, with vanilla, caramel and oak on a complex, rounded palate and a smooth, lingering finish.
A meeting of tequila and Kentucky bourbon, it makes a fine gift for whiskey and tequila lovers alike.

Extra añejo is the most mature category of tequila, created in 2006 for tequilas aged more than three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres. The long rest softens the agave's natural pepper and brings out caramel, vanilla and dried fruit, which is why extra añejos are usually enjoyed neat, like a fine cognac or whisky.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
