Lunazul Primero Cristalino is an añejo tequila aged 18 months in American white oak barrels and filtered eight times to crystal clarity, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Primero, meaning the first, is the first premium collection from the Beckmann Estate of Agave, overseen by eighth-generation tequila producer Jorge Beckmann and guided by Master Tequilero Francisco Quijano. It is made at the Tierra de Agaves distillery in Tequila, Jalisco, from 100% Blue Weber agave grown solely on the Beckmann Estate, using an exclusive family recipe and a proprietary yeast that adds green fruit and herbal notes. The añejo ages 18 months in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, then is filtered eight times to remove color and barrel tannin. The bottle carries Quijano's signature and an embossed leather neck wrap.
It offers a complex aroma of oak, caramel and apple with sweet, floral notes, and a full body of oak, citrus, caramel, vanilla and subtle spice with a smooth, silky texture.
The signed, crystal-clear bottle makes it an elegant gift.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
