MacNair's Exploration Rum Panama 15 Year Old is a blended Panamanian rum created by Master Blender Billy Walker of The GlenAllachie Distillers Company, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and at natural colour.
The rum was first matured in American oak in Panama's tropical climate, then transferred to the cooler maturation environment of The GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. There Walker gave it a secondary maturation in a combination of red wine, virgin oak and ex-bourbon casks. The first batch was limited to approximately 400 cases per expression.
The nose brings rich notes of plantains, pears and almonds fused with mocha. The palate is fruity, with pineapple, mango and peach, followed by treacle, coconut and orange zest.
Presented in its exploration-themed tube, it makes a distinctive gift for rum and whisky lovers alike.

Aged rum is one of the most diverse spirits in the world, shaped by the sugarcane, the still and the warm climates where it matures, which speed up the interaction between spirit and wood.
Panama has a long tradition of light, column-distilled rums made from sugar cane molasses, and its warm, humid climate speeds up maturation so the spirit draws flavour from the oak quickly.
Moving a spirit from the tropics to Scotland changes how it ages: in Speyside's cool, damp warehouses maturation slows, letting the finishing casks add layers gently rather than overwhelming the rum.
Billy Walker is one of the best-known figures in Scotch whisky, and he applied the same cask craft he uses for GlenAllachie single malts to this rum.
