Maker's Mark was carefully developed by Bill Samuels Sr. to be a smooth, sweet, easy-to-drink whisky that he would appreciate drinking himself, a revolutionary idea at a time when many whiskies were hot and harsh. It is still made to his unique recipe, and the brand is a certified B Corp.
This full-flavored bourbon is subtly woody, with flavors of vanilla, caramel and fruit. It is easy to drink neat, holds its own in a cocktail, and makes an effortless long drink with ginger ale and lime.
Its iconic hand-dipped red wax seal makes even the big bottle a familiar, welcome gift.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
Wheated bourbons replace rye with soft red winter wheat as the secondary grain, giving a softer, sweeter, rounder profile.
Every bottle of Maker's Mark is sealed by hand in red wax, so each drip is a little different.
