Martini & Rossi Riserva Speciale Rubino is a sweet red Vermouth di Torino, bottled at 18% ABV and named for its rich ruby colour.
It is made with fine Italian wines including Nebbiolo from the Langhe DOC.
It features hand-selected botanicals, including three types of artemisia (absinthium, pontica and vulgaris) and red sandalwood.
Its peppery notes pay homage to Genoa, the historic heart of the Italian spice trade, alongside red berries, dark cherry and a woody, herbal finish.
It is aged in traditional tino vats, and a single batch takes more than a year to make.
Vermouth is an aromatised wine: a base wine fortified with neutral spirit and flavoured with botanicals, traditionally including wormwood, which gives the category its name from the German Wermut. Once opened, it should be kept in the refrigerator and enjoyed within a few weeks, as the wine base slowly loses its freshness.
