MB Roland Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a small-batch, Pre-Prohibition-style bourbon made with local food-grade white corn and bottled at distillation and barrel proof. This batch is 109.6 proof (54.8% ABV).
MB Roland Distillery bottles its bourbon the way it was done before Prohibition, at the strength it came off the still and out of the barrel, so batches typically land between 105 and 115 proof. Each batch is a blend of five to ten barrels, and every bottle is hand labelled, numbered and individually proofed. Bottling at full strength preserves more flavour and structural depth than the dilution-and-chill-filtration approach common to mass-market bourbon.
The use of local white corn gives a unique, very full-flavoured whiskey. It is available full time at the distillery but only in limited amounts through distributors.
A distillery-direct Kentucky bourbon with real character, it makes a fine gift for bourbon fans who love barrel-proof whiskey.
Sip it neat, then add a little water to open it up.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
