Mermaid Pink Gin is a small-batch strawberry gin from the Isle of Wight Distillery, made by steeping fresh island strawberries in the award-winning Mermaid Gin and redistilling, and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
The Isle of Wight Distillery has been hand-crafting gin on the Isle of Wight, off England's south coast, since 2014, and it was the first distillery on the island. Mermaid Gin is its signature: ten ethically sourced botanicals, some of them grown or foraged on the island itself. Its name was inspired by its lead botanical, rock samphire, known locally as "mermaid's kiss", an aromatic succulent that clings to the island's cliffs and marks the high tide line on its beaches.
For the Pink, fresh Isle of Wight strawberries, grown in the rich and fertile microclimate of the Arreton Valley, are steeped in the signature gin for four days before being redistilled. The result keeps the smooth yet complex Mermaid character, a blend of lemon zest, grains of paradise and fragrant rock samphire, and adds the intense aroma and natural sweetness of sun-kissed strawberries.
It is aromatic and refreshing, perfectly balanced, subtle yet vibrant, and less sweet than most pink gins. Ripe strawberry leads the nose, with lemon zest and a peppery lift from the grains of paradise on the palate, and the rock samphire leaves a hint of sea air on the finish.
The textured, ocean-inspired bottle in deep pink makes it a standout on any bar cart and an easy gift. Mermaid Pink has been awarded an IWSC Gold Medal.
