Metaxa 7 Stars is the senior expression of the Metaxa style: a Greek spirit that blends aged wine distillates with sweet Muscat wine and Mediterranean botanicals, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Metaxa has been creating its unique amber spirit for more than 130 years. Its 7 Stars is made by blending three elements: a double pot-still distilled brandy from Savatiano, Sultanina and Black Corinth grapes, matured up to seven years in oak; aged aromatic Muscat wines from the Aegean island of Samos; and a secret infusion of Mediterranean botanicals, including rose petals and anise. The final blend is married in oak for a year before bottling.
Metaxa 7 Stars has the highest percentage of Muscat wine in the Stars range, which brings a pleasant, round, fruity sweetness to the spirit. Every step, from growing the grapes to sealing the bottles, is part of the Metaxa process, and the Muscat-and-botanical finishing step is what sets this self-confident spirit apart from conventional brandies.
Amber with copper reflections, it opens with ripe peach, prune and dried flowers. The palate is balanced and rich, with sweet mature fruits, caramel and toffee, and the aftertaste is prolonged and generous, with a fruity finish.
