Milagro Reposado is a 100% blue agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, rested four months in American oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Milagro was founded in 1998 by two friends from Mexico City who set out to create a modern tequila by making full use of tradition. Today it is owned by William Grant & Sons, which acquired its own distillery for the brand in 2020 (NOM 1559).
It starts with estate-grown blue agave from the Jalisco highlands, where red, mineral-rich soil and crisp mountain nights grow large, sugar-rich plants. The piñas are slow-roasted in traditional brick ovens and the tequila is triple distilled, then this Reposado rests for four months in American oak.
Every sip delivers warm caramel and vanilla, ending with surprising yet subtle notes of spice, while the bright agave character Milagro is known for still shines through.
Best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail, such as the brand's Paloma Rosada, a bright, fresh take on the traditional Paloma. The tall bottle with its glowing amber gradient is unmistakable.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
