Milam & Greene Very Small Batch No. 1 is the inaugural release of the Very Small Batch series, a straight bourbon blended by Master Blender Heather Greene from 75 handpicked barrels and bottled at 108 proof (54% ABV).
Batch 1 combines bourbon distilled in Kentucky by Master Distiller Marlene Holmes with Tennessee bourbon, in a ratio of 20% Kentucky barrels to 80% Tennessee barrels. The Kentucky component uses Milam & Greene's mash bill of 70% corn, 22% malted rye and 8% malted barley, bringing nutty richness even at just under four years old, while the Tennessee bourbon uses 80% corn, 10% rye and 10% malted barley.
The result reflects the climates of three states, Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas. The very small batches allow meticulous focus, highlighting the delicate esters produced during fermentation and revealing refined notes of fruit and florals.
An inaugural, limited release, it makes a fine gift for bourbon collectors.

Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
