Montagave Blanco Héritage is Montagave's flagship tequila, combining four generations of old-world tequila know-how with barrels sourced from some of the finest Grand Cru wine producers in Bordeaux, France, and bottled at 41% ABV.
It is made at NOM 1123, the Cascahuín distillery, from Lowlands agave. The agave is cooked for 72 hours in a brick oven, milled, and distilled twice in pot stills under Master Distiller Salvador Rosales Trejo.
The blanco then rests for 45 days in a blend of first- and second-fill Bordeaux wine barrels, which gives it a delicate blush while keeping the character of a blanco.
The result features notes of roasted agave, stone fruit, honey and flowers, with an unparalleled round finish. Its elegant blush colour makes it a striking gift.
Sip it neat or chilled, or use it in a refined margarita or paloma.
Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
