Naked Diablo Añejo is a 100% blue agave tequila aged in small batches for a minimum of 16 months in 10-year-old bourbon oak barrels and bottled at 40% ABV.
Añejo, meaning aged or vintage, is tequila rested in small oak barrels for more than a year. Naked Diablo ages its añejo in barrels that previously held bourbon for a decade, so the tequila draws rich bourbon character from the wood while keeping the sweetness of cooked agave.
This light amber tequila is rich, distinctive and full-bodied, striking a balance between bourbon, honey drizzle, peppercorn, toffee, agave and wood, with hints of vanilla.
Its ornate bottle makes it a handsome gift for tequila and bourbon drinkers alike.
It is best experienced neat or simply on the rocks.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Tequila must be made from blue Weber agave grown in designated regions of Mexico, chiefly Jalisco; 100% agave tequilas like this one use no other sugars in fermentation.
Bourbon barrels are charred American oak, and after years holding bourbon they pass on caramel, vanilla and toasted wood notes that marry well with the earthy sweetness of agave.
