Newton Single Vineyard Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single vineyard in the Yountville district of Napa Valley, at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains.
It is full-bodied and round, with velvety tannins and a nose driven by dark fruit and mocha.
The wine shows excellent fruit concentration and fine tannins, with good ageing potential.
The 2016 vintage earned strong reviews from critics.
Newton Vineyard was founded in 1977 on Spring Mountain and became known for its unfiltered Cabernets and its single-vineyard bottlings from distinct Napa sites. This Yountville bottling shows the warmth and richness of the valley floor, and with several years in bottle it is drinking beautifully now while still able to age.
Good wine rewards a little care in serving. Whites and rosés show best chilled to around 45 to 50°F, while reds are at their most expressive slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65°F. Opening the bottle and letting it breathe for a few minutes, or pouring it into a decanter, helps the aromas open up.
