On the palate come sleek tannins, roasted coffee, black cherry and cherry pith.
The John C. Sullenger Vineyard surrounds the Nickel & Nickel estate and is named for the Oakville pioneer who built its historic farmhouse. The 2021 earned 97 points from Wine Enthusiast and 95 from Jeb Dunnuck, a standout vintage from one of Oakville's finest sites.
Good wine rewards a little care in serving. Whites and rosés show best chilled to around 45 to 50°F, while reds are at their most expressive slightly below room temperature, around 60 to 65°F. Opening the bottle and letting it breathe for a few minutes, or pouring it into a decanter, helps the aromas open up.
