Noble Oak Double Oak Rye is a rye whiskey aged in new charred American white oak and finished with port wine oak staves, bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV). Every bottle plants a tree.
Noble Oak was created around a love of oak and a pledge to give back: for every bottle sold, the brand funds the planting of at least one tree through One Tree Planted, and its total has passed 750,000 trees. Noble Oak was one of Edrington's early American whiskey ventures, and the port wine staves used for this rye were sourced by the Master of Wood at Edrington, producers of some of the world's finest single malts.
The rye first ages for at least a year in new charred American white oak, then receives its second oak treatment with port wine staves, using the brand's proprietary process of heat and pressure to speed the transfer of flavor.
Deep mahogany in color, it shows toffee, allspice, wood and rich grains on the nose. On the palate, sweet brown sugar and maple syrup dissolve into a sharp profile of green pepper and grass, closing with austere, grainy rye spice.
Sip it neat or on the rocks, or stir a Manhattan or a Boulevardier, where the port influence plays beautifully with sweet vermouth.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
