Nonino Il Moscato is a Monovitigno grappa, distilled from the fresh pomace of a single grape variety, Muscat, from dedicated production zones, and bottled at 41% ABV.
The Nonino family personally takes care of buying the pomace and follows each phase of distillation to guarantee the quality of the grappa. The pomace is collected fresh and soft, and production depends strictly on each year's harvest. It is fermented under vacuum in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, then distilled immediately to avoid harmful secondary fermentations.
Distillation is artisanal and discontinuous, batch by batch, with head and tail cutting in exclusive copper steam stills renewed by Benito Nonino. It runs very slowly so the volatile components responsible for the fragrance evaporate and condense properly, preserving the character of the grape. The grappa then rests six months to a year in stainless steel tanks.
Il Moscato is elegant, aromatic, soft and sensual, with the perfume of roses, sage and vanilla. As an aromatic variety, it is excellent with cream cakes, crème anglaise, whipped cream, ice cream and fresh fruit salad, a lovely gift for dessert lovers.
Serve it at about 12°C in an open tulip glass, letting it rest a few minutes before tasting so the fragrances open up.
