Nulu Double Oaked is a single barrel straight bourbon whiskey from Prohibition Craft Spirits in Louisville, Kentucky, selected for Topflight and bottled at cask strength, 57.4% ABV, without chill filtration.
Double oaking finishes the bourbon in a second, new charred barrel, deepening its colour and adding layers of caramel, chocolate and toasted oak.
Each bottle is hand-labelled with its barrel number, proof and finishing time.
As a single barrel, every selection is unique and limited to the bottles one barrel can fill.
The navy-and-cream Nulu label and blue wax seal make it an attractive gift, and the rich, oaky profile rewards slow sipping.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
