Nulu Double Oaked Wheated is a single barrel straight bourbon from a wheated mash, double oaked and bottled at cask strength, 55.6% ABV, without chill filtration.
This barrel was hand-selected and labelled 'Old Fashioned' for its fit as a base for a rich Old Fashioned.
The double oaking intensifies the barrel influence, giving a rich, chocolate-forward, dessert-style bourbon with a velvety mouthfeel.
Nulu is made by Prohibition Craft Spirits in Louisville, Kentucky, and each bottle is hand-labelled with its barrel, proof, age and finish time.
Wheat in place of rye keeps it soft and round despite the strength. It is a dessert-style bourbon for slow sipping and the perfect bottle for a bourbon cocktail night.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
