Old Forester 86 Proof is the original Kentucky straight bourbon whisky, created in 1870 by George Garvin Brown and bottled at 43% ABV.
Old Forester was the first bourbon sold exclusively in sealed bottles, and it is the only bourbon continuously distilled and marketed by the founding family before, during and after Prohibition.
With a sharp and sweet aroma, it has a strong floral character with hints of mint, rich tobacco leaf and vanilla.
Sharp at first, it softens quickly to deliver spice and light orange notes.
The finish is long, warm and slightly drying, with a nice level of sweetness.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.

How to Enjoy It
Old Forester 86 is a classic bartender's bourbon. Stir it into an Old Fashioned with sugar, Angostura and an orange twist, a Manhattan with sweet vermouth, or a Mint Julep over crushed ice. Enjoy it neat with a splash of water, or in a highball with ginger ale. Pair it with barbecue, fried chicken, country ham, pecan pie and dark chocolate. For a gathering, chill the bottle and set out glasses, ice and garnishes so guests can serve themselves. A bottle also makes a thoughtful host gift for a dinner party or the holidays.
