Opus One 2023 is the latest release from Opus One Winery in Oakville, Napa Valley, a Bordeaux-style red blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec.
The grapes were picked between September 14 and October 16, and the wine was aged for 19 months in French oak.
2023 is the estate's first vintage managed entirely under regenerative viticulture.
It is a poised, classical vintage that favours freshness and aromatic precision over raw power, with red fruit, cherry blossom and dried violet on the nose.
Opus One was founded in 1979 as a partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild, joining Napa Valley fruit with Bordeaux tradition, and the label still carries both founders' signatures and profiles. The 2023 was released on October 1, 2026, and its fine tannins and brisk acidity give it the structure to age gracefully for two decades or more.

How to Enjoy It
Decant Opus One for an hour or two before serving at around 16 to 18°C in large Bordeaux glasses. It is a classic partner for dry-aged ribeye, rack of lamb, braised short ribs, beef Wellington and aged hard cheeses. Open it for a milestone dinner or keep it in the cellar to watch it develop over the years. Store the bottle on its side in a cool, dark place away from vibration, and chill it for a few hours before opening.
