Paladar Reposado Tempranillo is an experimental, additive-free 100% blue Weber agave reposado finished in rare Tempranillo wine casks, bottled at 40% ABV.
It is produced by the Orendain family, one of the last independent founding families of Tequila, and bridges traditional Mexican spirit-making and fine winemaking. Each batch of Paladar is twice distilled in a blend of copper and stainless steel pots.
The reposado develops vanilla, caramel and toasted wood while keeping the clean, expressive agave character of the brand, and the Tempranillo casks add distinct red fruit and spice.
Paladar means palate in Spanish, and this limited experiment makes a fine gift for curious tequila lovers.
Sip it neat, or over a single large ice cube.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Tempranillo is Spain's most famous red grape, the backbone of Rioja, and its casks carry dark cherry, plum and gentle spice that sit naturally alongside the vanilla and cooked agave of a reposado.
