Partida Roble Fino Añejo is an añejo tequila aged about 18 months in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for around five months in single malt Scotch whisky casks seasoned with sherry. It is bottled at 45% ABV.
Roble Fino, meaning fine oak, is Partida's premium sherry-cask line, and the higher bottling strength gives the añejo extra depth and presence. VinePair scored it 93 points, praising its proof.
The nose opens with sweetness and oak, with pear and dill in the background. The palate is sweet, with plenty of dried fruit, toasted oak, chocolate and cooked agave throughout, and the finish is long, woody and sweet, with lingering whisky and sherry notes.
The elegant bottle makes it a refined gift for tequila and whisky lovers.
Sip it neat from a snifter.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
