Partida Roble Fino Reposado is a reposado tequila aged in ex-bourbon barrels before a finish in sherry casks, and bottled at 43% ABV.
Roble Fino, meaning fine oak, is Partida's premium sherry-cask line. The ex-bourbon barrels bring vanilla and sweetness, while the sherry finish adds dried fruit and depth, and the higher bottling strength gives the reposado extra richness.
Expect cooked agave, vanilla and maple syrup, with anise, quince and dried fruit.
The elegant bottle with its wax seal makes it a refined gift.
Sip it neat or over a large ice cube.
Reposado, meaning rested, is tequila aged between two months and a year in oak, which gives it a pale gold colour and a gentle touch of wood while keeping the agave bright and lively.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Reposado means rested: the tequila spends between two months and a year in oak, long enough to soften the agave and add colour while keeping it lively. Finishing in sherry casks is still unusual in tequila, and Partida's Roble Fino line has helped show how well the nutty, dried-fruit character of Spanish wine casks suits agave.
