Penelope Bourbon is named after the founder's then newborn daughter, and blending is at its heart. Each barrel is hand-selected and blended into a single batch, and the Four Grain is the expression that started it all, remarkably smooth and flavorful whether sipped neat or used in a favorite cocktail.
Three bourbon mash bills come together for an overall recipe of 75% corn, 15% wheat, 7% rye and 3% malted barley. The whiskey is aged four years and bottled without chill filtration, which keeps its full texture and flavor.
The aroma is dynamic, with balanced corn sweetness, caramel, light oak and syrup and slight savory notes. On the palate come fruit, syrup and candied sweetness with a savory vanilla note and hints of berry and citrus, and the finish brings a touch of buttercream icing and cornbread with a lingering vanilla spice.
