Perro de San Juan Cirial is an artisanal mezcal made from 100% maguey Cirial, a member of the Agave karwinskii family, bottled at 42.5% ABV.
The initials on the label refer to San Dionisio Ocotepec, the Oaxacan village where it is made.
Karwinskii agaves such as Cirial, Cuishe, Madrecuishe and Barril are tall, slender plants known for green, mineral and earthy flavours.
It offers green and citrus fruits with moist, earthy and salty notes.
The mezcal won a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and its green label with a hand-drawn dog makes it easy to spot. It is a fine bottle for exploring the karwinskii family.
