Pisco Reservado Chañaral de Carén 40 is a traditional, 100% handmade Chilean pisco from the Limarí Valley, distilled from Muscat grapes and rested about 18 months in oak, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).

Pisco doesn't get much more old-school than this. Chañaral de Carén was born in 1987 in the tiny village of the same name, high in Chile's Limarí Valley near Ovalle, where the pisco is made in hand-built copper stills over a wood fire. It is a symbol of the traditional method of winemaking and wine distillation that has been passed down for generations in the area.

The time in oak softens it into something floral and warm. The nose shows floral citrus with quince and orange peel, and the palate brings red fruit, wild berries and almond tones, with a smooth, refined Chilean character.

An artisanal pisco with real heritage.

The house is recognized among Chile's artisanal pisco makers: its higher-strength Chañaral de Carén 46 was named best pisco of the year with a Great Gold Medal at the 2015 Catador Santiago contest.

Each bottle is a testament to generations of distilling expertise in the Ovalle area, preserving the traditional methods of winemaking and distillation that have defined the region's culture for decades. It is a fine introduction to aged Chilean pisco for anyone who enjoys brandy.
