Porfidio The Original is a three-year-old extra añejo agave spirit made from 100% Blue Agave sourced exclusively from Jalisco, presented in Porfidio's iconic hand-blown bottle with a green glass cactus inside. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
Porfidio is known for breaking tequila conventions. It extracts the agave juice by cold pressing and enzymatic hydrolysis rather than cooking, and the spirit is labelled as a distilled spirit from 100% Blue Agave. It is aged in toasted virgin oak and partly matured at sea.
The bottle is unmistakable: a tall, clear glass vessel with a green glass cactus rising from the base, its arms tipped in red and the Porfidio name embossed on the side. Filled with amber spirit, the cactus seems to glow from within, and it has made Porfidio a collector's favourite for decades.
It is a striking gift and a centrepiece for any bar.
Pour it slowly from a snifter to enjoy the depth that three years in virgin oak brings to the agave. Few spirit bottles are as instantly recognisable as Porfidio's cactus, and once the spirit is gone the hand-blown glass makes a beautiful ornament for a shelf or bar cart.
