Purasangre Blanco Fuerte is an additive-free highland tequila from master distiller Enrique Fonseca at Tequileña (NOM 1146), bottled at a slightly higher strength than the standard blanco, 87 proof (43.5% ABV), in a one-litre bottle.
Purasangre, Spanish for "thoroughbred", is highly regarded in Mexico for its mature-agave flavour and its highland Atotonilco El Alto pedigree. The 100% Blue Weber agave is matured five to six years and grown at elevations over 5,200 feet in Atotonilco El Alto, then cooked for 24 hours in a low-pressure autoclave.
Fonseca, a native highlander, uses a unique technique, distilling the earthy agave first in stainless steel alembic pot stills and then a second time in copper pots. The tequila is rich and balanced, with a distinctive agave character, and the Fuerte strength is the best way to experience the full range of flavours from Tequileña's most prized estate-grown agave.

Blanco tequila is bottled unaged or rested for less than two months, so it shows the agave at its purest: bright, peppery and fresh. It is the classic choice for margaritas and palomas, and a good blanco is just as rewarding sipped neat.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
