Pure Scot is a contemporary blended Scotch whisky from the historic Bladnoch Distillery, combining Bladnoch single malt with malts from Speyside, the Highlands and Islay, finished in virgin American oak and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV) in a 700ml bottle.
Bladnoch, established in 1817 in Galloway, is geographically the most southerly distillery in Scotland and was once known as the Queen of the Lowlands for its large output. After generations in the hands of the McClelland family, it was acquired in 2015 by Australian businessman David Prior, who partnered with renowned whisky makers to bring it back to life, and Pure Scot followed.
Pure Scot is no ordinary blend. It is built on Bladnoch single malt of a minimum of eight years, combined with rare and aged malts from Islay, the Highlands and Speyside along with grain whisky, then handcrafted and seamlessly finished in virgin American oak casks at the distillery. Crafted with passion and experience, it balances provenance and progression.
Copper gold in color, it is rich and fragrant on the nose, with toffee and fruit cake, malty notes and a hint of smoke. The palate is full-bodied and mellow, a balanced rich smokiness with ginger marmalade and sweet honeyed fruit, soft, smooth and lightly spicy, leading to a long-lasting, refreshing honey finish.
