R6 Blue Corn Vodka is a small-batch California vodka from R6 Distillery in El Segundo, made from 100% organic blue and yellow corn and distilled 20 times, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
R6 is a family- and veteran-owned distillery in El Segundo, California, just south of Los Angeles International Airport. Since its 2014 founding, co-owner and head distiller Rob Rubens has overseen a speakeasy-inspired operation that hand-bottles whiskey, blue corn vodka, gin and bourbon, building its reputation on spirits made from blue corn. Blue corn has been grown in the American Southwest for centuries, and it gives this vodka a character you will not get from wheat or standard grain. The 5,900-square-foot El Segundo facility can hand-bottle about 1,000 bottles in a day.
The 100% organic California blue and yellow corn mash is distilled 20 times in a German Kothe still. The vodka is then carbon filtered to strip congeners and undesirable flavors, blended with reverse osmosis water, and filtered again before bottling. Naturally gluten free, it has earned awards from the American Distilling Institute and Best of LA honors, and it was named best vodka in blind tastings against major national brands for flavor and mouthfeel.
The result is an exceptionally clean vodka, velvety and soft, with delicate notes of honey, toasted nuts and vanilla and a gentle, earthy sweetness leading to a subtle peppery finish.
Clean enough for any cocktail, it shines in a Martini, a vodka soda with lime or a spicy Bloody Mary, and it is just as good sipped neat or over ice.
