R6 is a family- and veteran-owned distillery in El Segundo, California, just south of Los Angeles International Airport, home of Los Angeles' first bourbon. Its brewery collaboration program begins with a jointly developed brew, which R6 distills into whiskey and matures in deliberately selected barrels.
For this one-time release with The Lost Abbey, the rye whiskey was finished in barrels that had held wheat and single malt whiskeys. Soft apple and honey warm up to a fresh spice of rye and wheat, balancing fruit and sweetness against the grain's firmer character.
