Russell's Reserve 10 Year is a hand-selected, small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon from Wild Turkey's master distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell, aged at least 10 years and bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
The Russell's Reserve line is named in honor of Jimmy and Eddie Russell, the legendary father-son master distiller team who bring nearly 100 years of combined experience to their craft at Wild Turkey in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The 10 Year is aged for a minimum of ten years in #4 alligator-char American oak barrels, which gives it rich caramel and vanilla flavors and a uniquely smooth finish. Its bold notes make it perfect for classic cocktails like the Boulevardier, a Negroni riff with bourbon.
The bouquet offers vanilla spice, with strong aromas of vanilla and caramel and whiffs of aged oak, graham cracker and leather. Rich, creamy toffee follows on the palate, and it finishes quickly with a touch of sweetness.
It is a classic gift for any bourbon drinker.
Bourbon must be made in the United States from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak containers, and straight bourbon must be aged at least two years. Those rules give bourbon its characteristic sweetness, with caramel and vanilla drawn from the charred barrels.
A splash of water opens up the caramel.
It makes a rich Manhattan with sweet vermouth.
A large ice cube is ideal for slow sipping.
