Sagamore Spirit was born at Sagamore Farm, a storied Maryland horse farm about 22 miles outside Baltimore that sits atop a bed of limestone rock. Its signature rye revives Maryland's proud rye whiskey tradition, and the neck carries the state flag's bold pattern.
The whiskey blends a high-rye mash bill, which brings cinnamon and clove, with a low-rye mash bill that contributes caramel, honey and citrus peel. The straight ryes are aged four to six years in high-char American oak, and the final spirit is proofed with limestone-filtered water from the farm's spring house, built in 1909.
Expect cinnamon, clove and caramel on the nose, a palate of honey, citrus peel and baking spice with soft oak, and a warm, spicy finish.
