Salvadores Mezcal Artesanal Tobalá is a joven mezcal from Oaxaca, made from 100% wild Tobalá agave (Agave potatorum) and bottled at 48% ABV.

Tobalá is one of the most prized wild agaves in Oaxaca. It grows small and slowly, scattered across rocky hillsides, and each plant yields only a little mezcal, which makes Tobalá bottlings sought after by mezcal lovers.

This joven is light-bodied and fresh, with green, vegetal notes of romaine lettuce, poblano chilli, chia seed and cucumber, and a subtle thread of smoke.

Its clean, minimalist label makes it an elegant gift for anyone exploring wild agave spirits.

Sip it slowly from a copita at room temperature.

Mezcal is made by roasting agave hearts, traditionally in earthen pits, then crushing, fermenting and distilling them, a process that gives the spirit its characteristic smoky depth. Each agave variety and each village brings its own character, which is why enthusiasts love exploring small-batch bottlings.

Mezcal and other agave spirits are traditionally sipped from a copita or a small clay cup, in small sips, often alongside orange slices dusted with sal de gusano. Many are made in tiny batches by individual families, so each bottle is a snapshot of a particular place, agave and season.

Joven, meaning young, mezcal is bottled unaged, straight from the still, so nothing stands between the drinker and the character of the agave, the roast and the hands that made it. At 48% ABV it carries the full flavour of the distillate, and a few slow sips let the green, fresh notes open up in the glass.
