San Matías Tequila Cristal is a smooth cristalino añejo from Casa San Matías, one of Mexico's historic tequila producers, made with 100% Blue Weber agave from Los Altos de Jalisco and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Casa San Matías has honored tequila tradition for over 130 years and remains funded by 100% Mexican capital. Cristal is designed to deliver the richness of aged tequila with the clean, polished look and soft finish of a cristalino, keeping the rounded barrel influence and smooth texture expected from an añejo.
The profile brings together cooked agave, vanilla, chocolate, roasted coffee, nutmeg, soft oak and gentle sweetness.
Its elegant square bottle makes it a refined gift.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
Cristalino tequilas offer aged complexity with the crisp look of a blanco.
Los Altos agave is known for its sweet, fruity character.
Serve it chilled in a copita or over a large cube.
