Scapegrace Gold is a juicy navy-strength dry gin from New Zealand, small-batch pot-still distilled in Canterbury and bottled at 114 proof (57% ABV). It was voted the World's Best London Dry Gin at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
It is made from a wheat-based neutral spirit and pristine water from the Southern Alps, with twelve classic botanicals plus an extra highlight of tangerine. That brings three layers of citrus, orange, lemon and tangerine, for the perfect friction between complexity and balance.
The nose is bright citrus over subtle spice and florals. The palate is juniper-forward with a creamy texture, baking spice, cassia and a peppery undertone, and the finish is dry and floral, with lingering orris root and soft liquorice.

Navy strength gin dates to the days when the British Navy stored gin alongside gunpowder: at about 57% ABV, gin-soaked powder would still ignite.

Pot-still distillation in small batches gives a rounder, more textured gin than column distillation.
