Scorpion Silver is an unaged 100% agave Espadín mezcal made in small batches in Oaxaca, Mexico, with a real scorpion in every bottle, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Scorpion has been available in the U.S. since 1996. It is made by Maestro Mezcalero Douglas French, who learned the trade from third-generation mezcalero Don Lupe and has built a 50,000-square-foot production in Oaxaca that transforms native agaves into the award-winning Scorpion line. The mezcal is handcrafted from sustainably harvested agave with no artificial flavors or colors, and most of it is double distilled in copper. Each bottle contains a real scorpion hand-collected from the hills surrounding the distillery, behind the brand's famous slogan: worms are for wimps. The distinctive bottle comes with its own little Scorpion Mezcal sombrero.
Freshly distilled and bottled without aging, it shows plenty of citrus on the nose and palate, with orange and lime, balanced and clean.

Mezcal is made by roasting agave hearts, traditionally in earthen pits, then crushing, fermenting and distilling them, a process that gives the spirit its characteristic smoky depth.
