Se Busca Reposado is an artisanal mezcal made from 100% Espadín agave in San Juan del Río, Oaxaca, rested 10 months in French oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Se Busca is handcrafted by maestros mezcaleros Rodolfo and Mary López Sosa, using traditional methods passed down through generations of the López Sosa family. Fully mature Agave angustifolia is cooked in traditional ovens, naturally fermented and double distilled, then rested 10 months in French oak. The reposado is conceived as a tribute to the courage and passion of the Adelitas and Soldaderas, the women who defied convention during the Mexican Revolution.
The French oak brings notes of coconut, sweet almond and hazelnut, layered with oak and the mesquite smoke of the cooked agave.
The vintage wanted-poster label makes it a characterful gift.
Mezcal is made by roasting agave hearts, traditionally in earthen pits, then crushing, fermenting and distilling them, a process that gives the spirit its characteristic smoky depth. Each agave variety and each village brings its own character, which is why enthusiasts love exploring small-batch bottlings.
Mezcal and other agave spirits are traditionally sipped from a copita or a small clay cup, in small sips, often alongside orange slices dusted with sal de gusano. Many are made in tiny batches by individual families, so each bottle is a snapshot of a particular place, agave and season.
