Señor Artesano Añejo is a 100% agave tequila from Jalisco, presented in a striking 1-litre ceramic decanter glazed in deep red and decorated by hand with gold detailing, from the sunburst agave at its base to the ornate scrollwork along its sides.
As an añejo, it rests in oak barrels for at least a year before bottling, long enough for the wood to add colour, sweetness and spice while the cooked agave stays at the heart of the spirit. It pours a natural golden colour and is bottled at 40% ABV.
In the glass it brings wood spice, chocolate and butter candy, a rich and rounded profile built for slow sipping.
The hand-decorated ceramic bottle makes it a showpiece on a back bar and a memorable gift, and once emptied it stays on the shelf as a decanter.
Sip it neat at room temperature, or over a single large ice cube.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
