Skelly Añejo is an authentic, additive-free 100% blue Weber agave tequila made in the traditional method and presented in a hand-decorated ceramic skeleton bottle wearing a mariachi hat, bottled at 40% ABV.
It is produced from fully mature 7 to 10 year agave, half from the highlands and half from the lowlands of Jalisco, slow-roasted in brick ovens, slow-fermented, never diffused, extracted with a roller press, double distilled and aged 18 months in bourbon barrels.
A roasted-pineapple aroma opens, and with time a peppery, floral perfume develops, with toasted oak and vanilla bean. The palate shows roasted peppers, orange blossom and tropical fruit, then chocolate, orange and sugar cookies, and the long, naturally sweet finish brings chocolate, caramel and dulce de leche.
A Day of the Dead-inspired centrepiece, it makes an unforgettable gift.
Sip it neat, or over a single large ice cube.
Añejo tequila is aged between one and three years in oak barrels of no more than 600 litres, long enough to add colour, sweetness and spice while keeping the character of the agave, which makes it a natural sipping tequila.
Tequila can only be made from blue Weber agave in five designated Mexican states, chiefly Jalisco, and the finest bottlings are made from 100% agave. Sipping tequila is best enjoyed from a narrow-rimmed glass that concentrates the aromas, at room temperature and without salt or lime, so the character of the agave and the barrel can come through.
