Slane Irish Whiskey is a triple-casked blend of malt and grain whiskeys from Slane Distillery on the grounds of Slane Castle in Ireland's Boyne Valley, bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Nestled in the Boyne Valley in County Meath, Slane Distillery celebrates the return of exceptional whiskey to the region. It was created with the barrel-raising art and whiskey-making expertise of the Brown family, born on the historic grounds of Slane Castle, and the whiskey bears the village's name.
The signature Triple Casked method rests the grain and malt whiskeys in three different cask types: virgin American oak, which brings toasted oak and vanilla; seasoned casks that previously held Tennessee whiskey and bourbon; and Oloroso sherry casks. The result is a triple-distilled whiskey of natural character, with untamed notes of oak and spice.
Each sip is complex yet smooth, with hints of vanilla and banana, butterscotch and baking spice. The nose offers complex fruit with drizzles of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla, brown spice and toasted oak. The palate is spicy at first but quickly sweetened with rich caramel, vanilla and butterscotch over a deep layer of dried fruit, and the finish lingers with dried fruit and caramelized wood sugar.
It has earned 92 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge and a Gold Medal at the 2022 International Spirits Challenge. Enjoy it neat, on ice, or in an Irish Coffee or a whiskey highball.
