Spring44 Old Tom Gin is a barrel-rested Old Tom gin from Loveland, Colorado, brought to proof with Rocky Mountain artesian spring water and aged in toasted American oak, bottled at 88 proof (44% ABV).
Spring44 takes its name from the Rocky Mountain artesian spring whose water goes into every bottle; founders Jeff Lindauer, Russ Wall and Jeff McPhie haul it back to the distillery in a 450-gallon tank. The Old Tom is rested in toasted American oak barrels after distillation, giving the classic, slightly sweeter Old Tom style a warm barrel character.
A rich, barrel-aged warm tan, it leads with juniper over a background of light ginger and vanilla. An herbal spice reminiscent of galangal and black pepper runs through the palate, and the tail is gently spicy and creamy with herbal brightness and a tinge of warm vanilla.
The silver tree label makes it a handsome gift.
