Stork House Full Proof Rye is a German rye whiskey, the first 100% German rye to reach the United States, bottled near cask strength at 110 proof (55% ABV) in small batches.
Known as Stork Club in Europe and Stork House in the US for labelling and trademark reasons, it is built on locally grown German rye and water sourced on site just south of Berlin, and the distillery has become one of the most awarded whiskey producers in Europe. The whiskey is matured in American and German Napoleon oak alongside ex-wine and ex-sherry casks.
Butterscotch and black pepper come up front, with mature oak, juicy grain, vanilla, dried fruit, a hint of clove and a long finish.
Winner of Gold at the 2024 World Whiskies Awards, it makes a memorable gift for rye lovers looking beyond America.
Sip it neat, or add a few drops of water to open it up.
American rye whiskey is made from a mash of at least 51% rye and aged in new charred oak, giving it a spicier, drier character than bourbon, with notes of pepper, herbs and baking spice.
Rye whiskey is made from a mash rich in rye, which gives a spicy, herbal character.
Full proof means the whiskey is bottled close to cask strength, carrying more flavour and texture.
