Stranahan's Bottled-in-Bond is the Denver distillery's first-ever bonded release: an 11-year-old American single malt bottled at precisely 100 proof (50% ABV). It is the oldest Colorado bottled-in-bond whiskey ever released, made to honour Colorado's 150th anniversary and America's 250th.

Bottled-in-Bond is one of American whiskey's oldest quality standards, created by the U.S. government in 1897: a single distillery, a single distilling season, at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottling at exactly 100 proof. Stranahan's distilled this whiskey from 100% malted barley and Rocky Mountain water in a single season, January to June 2015, then matured it for eleven years in new American white oak barrels with a level 3 char, in a federally bonded warehouse in Denver. It was brought to proof with Rocky Mountain water from Eldorado Springs.

The release pairs one of whiskey's oldest standards with one of its newest official categories, American Single Malt, from a distillery that has made single malt in Denver since 2004. As Head Blender Justin Aden puts it, the mile-high climate pulls out a refined character and depth over time.

The nose offers candied apples, baked orchard fruit, pipe tobacco and oiled leather, with hints of clove and torched sugar. The palate is velvety, with rich caramel, cracked pepper, dark chocolate, molasses and charred oak spice, and the finish is long and silky, with lingering oak, cocoa nib and a refreshing hint of earthy spearmint.

Presented in its box, it is a milestone bottle for Colorado whiskey collectors.
