Suave Reposado is a certified organic, additive-free reposado tequila from master distiller Jaime Villalobos Sauza, aged nine months in American oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).
Suave is a single-estate, small-batch tequila. Its agave grows in the Tequila Valley terroir known as "La Blanca", on a plantation certified organic since 2009, and every bottle is numbered and signed by Villalobos Sauza. The tequila is made at Hacienda de Oro, where, as he puts it, the team works with 100% control over the production process. The word suave means smooth, and the brand has earned a reputation for clean, honest tequila; Suave Reposado was named Tequila of the Year at the 2018 USA Spirits Ratings, and the bottle won a Package Design Award at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Nine months in American oak enriches the colour and aromas, adding warm woody flavour, complexity and depth. On the palate, smooth caramel meets hints of dark chocolate and olives, while the bright notes of the original blanco remain, with touches of anise and eucalyptus, sweet cinnamon, black pepper and toasted oak. The finish lingers with a pleasant bitterness and olive leaf.
